Tough and solid, made of high-grade Australian Bluescope steel and Colorbond® materials. Robust frames, corrosion-resistant fasteners, roofs that ain’t going anywhere. That’s a Stockman for you! Do it yourself (DIY) boat shed kits

Our in-house shed building service covers the southeast of Queensland, but we appreciate there are people outside of that zone who’d still like a robust and durable shed. That’s why Stockman offers DIY shed kits from our Brisbane factory to customers all across Australia. Manufactured and delivered right to your property, we recommend building these yourself if you have the required knowledge and experience. If you don’t, then enlist the help of a professional builder who covers your local area.

COLORBONDⓡ boat sheds

What we love about Colorbond® materials is the range of colours. Their versatile palette offers multiple options that ensure your boat shed will blend seamlessly into the surrounding Aussie landscapes! From classic hues to bold, statement-making shades, the colours are visually epic and hold their own in our climate. The vibrancy lasts for years! Whether you’re on the Sunshine Coast or out in the hot country, Colorbond® shed building materials will ensure you have a boat shed that looks fantastic and has the functionality to match!

Frequently Asked

Boat Sheds shed questions, answered

What size boat shed do I need?
Measure the boat on its trailer, then add 1m to length, 600mm to width, and 600mm to height for clearance. Most trailerable boats up to 6m fit comfortably in a 9m × 4m × 3.6m shed; 7m+ boats with high T-tops or rod holders usually need 11m × 4.5m × 4m. Always measure the trailer's drawbar — that's often the longest dimension and easy to miss.
How tall does a boat shed need to be?
Tall enough to clear the highest point of the boat on its trailer plus 600mm for the roller door tracks. For a typical bowrider or runabout that's usually 3.3–3.6m wall height. T-top centre-consoles, half-cab fishing boats and offshore boats with electronics towers often need 4–4.5m. Always factor in the boat's antenna or rocket-launcher height in the upright position.
What roller door size is right for a boat shed?
The roller door needs to clear the widest point of the boat (usually the gunwales) plus 200mm. For boats up to 2.5m wide that means a 3m wide door; 2.5–3m wide boats need a 3.6m door; bigger offshore boats can need 4.2m+. Door height needs to clear the highest point of the boat on its trailer plus the door tracks (usually 250–300mm).
Can a boat shed double as a workshop?
Yes — most boat sheds end up doubling as a workshop. Common additions: a workbench along one wall, internal lighting and power circuits (with a marine-grade RCD), a wash bay with floor drainage, internal racks for fishing gear and skis. Add 1.5m+ to the shed width if you want walk-around access on both sides of the boat for maintenance.
How much does a boat shed cost?
Most Stockman boat sheds run $25,000 to $55,000. A standard 9m × 4m × 3.6m boat shed for a small runabout sits around $25,000–$35,000; an 11m × 4.5m × 4m for a larger offshore boat lands at $35,000–$50,000; sheds with workshop space, wash bays or attached lean-tos run higher. The taller the door, the more cost — high-clearance walls drive a bigger frame.
