Custom Fernvale Shed
Fernvale is a small rural town in the Somerset region, between Toowoomba and Brisbane. Big backyards and hard-working homeowners make a shed a genuinely valuable asset here. People’s properties are put to good use and they need sheds that can keep up.
As with all our builds, this Fernvale shed is designed to work hard and last long. A fully enclosed gable shed, it boasts eye-catching design and an array of features to enhance it’s work and storage capabilities.
Let’s take a look at what they are.
Fernvale Shed Features
This shed was built for a residential block, with storage and workshop space as the twin goals. Good height, smart access, a practical awning and quality materials from top to bottom define it.
Large Shed Footprint
Here's what you're working with:
7.5m wide x 8.78m long x 4.3m high
That 4.3-metre wall height does some heavy lifting here. It gives the interior serious vertical space - this makes a difference when storing tall equipment or adding storage or shelving platforms. You could even include a mezzanine in there down the track.
Enclosed Awning
This really makes this shed stand out - a fully-enclosed 3-metre wide awning running off the left side of the shed. It integrates nicely with the main structure, creating additional internal space with its own roller door access. You could partition this off internally to create a completely separate area with its own usage case. However you go about using it, an awning is a smart add-on to incorporate into your shed design.
Colorbond® in Jasper® Throughout
Colorbond® is our go-to choice for shed roofs and cladding. A local steel product, it handles the heavy Queensland weather with ease. Plus, it comes in a choice of 21 sublime colours, all inspired by the Australian outdoors.
On this shed, the walls, roof, ridge, barges, gutters and roller doors are all in Jasper®. This warm, earthy brown works beautifully in a residential backyard setting. The colour ties in naturally with the surrounding fences, garden and the natural tones of the area.
Three Steel-Line Roller Doors
Access by machinery and vehicles of all sizes is made easy by the three large roller doors - all made by Steel-line in the Jasper® tone to match the cladding. The largest of the three, the centre door, stands at 3.6 metres wide and 3.3 metres high. That’s plenty big enough to drive in a 4WD or back in something with loaded roof racks. The two flanking doors are 2.4 metres wide.
Larnec PA Door
A personal access door gives nice and easy access to the shed - a way to get in and out without opening up the big roller doors. They’re a genuinely useful addition that gets used constantly. A PA door is part of this shed design. Built and supplied by Larnec, it's solid and secure and will support busy daily use.
Sliding Window from Bradnams
One sliding window with a fibreglass fly screen brings natural light into the shed and lets you get air moving through when you need it. Positioned high on the front face, it lights up the interior during the day without compromising wall space below. The fly screen is a practical touch for a shed you're spending real time in.
4.3 Metre Wall Height
This is worth its own mention. At 4.3 metres, the wall height on this build is well above what you'd find on a standard backyard shed. That extra clearance changes what you can store, how you can work and what's possible if you want to add to the shed later. It also gives the building a strong, substantial look from the outside.
BlueScope Steel Frame
The structural core of every Stockman shed is a BlueScope steel frame, and this one is no exception. Engineered for Australian conditions, built straight and designed to hold its shape for decades without issue. Ot’s no wonder BlueScope is becoming the go-to steel in the construction industry around the world.
