We can build our sheds large as you want, able to accommodate your big farming activities, keeping your machinery, livestock and produce safe.

Need an open-fronted solution for storing oversized machinery like combine harvesters? No problem!

Rural sheds that go the distance

Bring an extra level of functionality to your farm or smallholding with an agricultural shed from Stockman Sheds. They’re built as tough as Aussie farmers, able to withstand our harsh weather conditions and keep up with busy day-to-day farm life.

One of the standout functions of a farm shed is the ability to provide secure storage for your expensive machinery. Tractors, combine harvesters, planters and all other tools vital to a farm’s operations represent a significant investment. You need a shed that keeps them safe when they’re not being used.

Same goes for farm produce. No produce means no profit, so you want it to be stored as safely as possible. Our sheds are designed to keep the water and the pests out, maintaining the quality of your produce.

Whether it’s for storage or an organised place for farming activities, your Stockman Shed is an ideal agricultural partner.

What helps a Stockman Shed stand out from our competitors? Here are a few of the reasons:

Local Queensland Shed Builders: We are Toowoomba born-an-bred shed builders. We understand the country and the agricultural context, and can build sheds to match.

Site Specific Engineering: Every one of our sheds is different. We’ll engineer yours so that it is suited to the surroundings, leveraging the landscape for maximum durability.

Quality Suppliers: From Steel-Line roller doors to Trimdek cladding and Bradnams windows, we only use tried and tested local suppliers for our shed components.

We Build Big Sheds: A small shed isn’t much use on a farm. We can build sheds big enough to accommodate whatever agricultural function you need it for.

Farm shed prices

At Stockman, you have the ability to custom design your shed with a whole range of optional extras. Before we can give you an accurate quote, we have a chat with you about your shed vision. Let’s talk about what you need your new shed for, and how big you’re anticipating it being. We can talk design options, colours, materials and build times for your bespoke farm shed. Once we have an understanding of the project at hand, we can give you an accurate quote.

Remember, with a Stockman your shed is fully customisable. You can add extra windows, additional roller doors and side access doors too. You can decide on a finish, and whether you need extra insulation or skillion roof style lean-tos. Let’s build the shed of your dreams!

Farm sheds for sale

There’s no doubt investing in a farm shed is going to add value to your property and improve your farming operations. Farming equipment, livestock and produce are all incredibly important to the Aussie farmer, and the right farm shed will help you protect them. Here are just a taste of the shed we can build on your rural property:

Machinery Storage Sheds: Tractors, combine harvesters, trailers and diggers all need a secure place for when they’re not out in the field.

Cattle Sheds: The shed you build will be instrumental in keeping your livestock healthy and allowing you to grow your herd.

Australian Barns: There’s nothing like a good old Aussie barn shed to add value and functionality to your farm. Ours are built to last and to blend in with your Aussie country environment!

American Style Barns: They do things big in America, which is why the three-bay American barn has been such a hit with rural Aussie folk.

Workshop Sheds: Farmers need a spot to work on machinery and store their tools. A spacious and feature-filled workshop shed is the answer to that.

Frequently Asked

Farm & Rural shed questions, answered

What size farm shed do I need?
Depends on the operation. A small hobby-farm machinery shed runs 9m × 6m × 3.6m; a working ute-and-tractor shed sits at 12m × 9m × 4.5m; a hay or silage shed needs 18m × 12m × 5m+ to accommodate round bales and a telehandler; a serious cropping or cattle shed routinely runs 24m–30m wide. Stockman engineers every span to your specific use case.
How much does a farm shed cost?
Most Stockman farm sheds sit between $40,000 and $150,000+. A 12m × 9m machinery shed lands around $40,000–$70,000; an 18m × 12m hay or cropping shed runs $80,000–$140,000; large 24m+ open-front sheds push past $150,000. Final price depends on wind classification, soil class, slab spec, and how many sides are clad vs open.
What's the standard wind rating for a Queensland farm shed?
Most rural sites in South East Queensland sit at C2 or C3 wind classification under AS/NZS 1170. Coastal and elevated sites can step up to C4. Stockman engineers every shed to its specific site — a wind classification report is part of the planning paperwork. Going up a wind rating costs more in steel section size and bracing, but it's not negotiable in cyclone-prone or exposed areas.
Do farm sheds need council approval in rural Queensland?
Usually yes. Class 10a sheds over 10m² / 2.4m / 5m trigger a building application even on rural-zoned land. Class 7b sheds (used for farming as a commercial activity) may also need a Material Change of Use under the local planning scheme. Stockman handles every application, certifier inspection and overlay check (bushfire, flood, slope) as part of the build.
Can I add a workshop or office to a farm shed?
Yes — most working farms add a lockable workshop bay, an office or smoko room, and sometimes a wash bay. Stockman builds these into the design as internal partitioned bays with their own door, insulation, power and lighting rough-in. Common pattern: an enclosed workshop at one end, a smoko room next to it, then open machinery bays running off down the rest of the shed.
