A Big Cabarlah Shed Built to Work

big cabarlah shed

Big country needs a shed to match. You may remember this post from from a few weeks ago about the massive concrete slab in Cabarlah, north of Toowoomba, that we built. Our shed-building team has finished construction on the shed now, and we’re pleased to report it hits all the notes set out in the brief.

It’s not just about the incredible size - it comes with usability to match.  It’s long, wide, tall, and built with purpose - a genuinely big shed in every sense of the word.

You met the slab, now we want to introduce you to the shed. Let’s take a look at some of the features the new owners are enjoying.

Strong Cabarlah Shed Features

What’s standing here now is a serious working shed, designed to handle storage, machinery, work projects and whatever comes next. It’s a busy shed and it’s going to be put through its paces. Stockman Sheds wanted to make sure it was ready.

A Truly Large Shed Footprint

large shed footprint

Sheds don’t come much bigger than this. Check out these dimensions:

48.38m long x 19 metres wide x 5.2 metres high

It’s a lot of space, and it has to be used properly. A footprint like that allows for clear internal zones, huge covered verandahs and plenty of vertical use. Vehicles - big vehicles - can come and go and turn around inside. There’s no need to squeeze or work around size limitations. You can use this shed for decades without feeling boxed in.

This is a large shed that makes the most of the property it sits on. It fits the land - it doesn’t fight it for space. That’s important when you’re deciding on a shed size for your property.

Soaring Internal Height

soaring internal shed height

The impressive 5.2 metres of internal height gives a real sense of space inside. It’s not just for looks - that vertical height is also usable space that adds to the functionality of this shed. It accommodates tall machinery, shelving and racking and future mezzanine options if required.

Big Verandah Plus a Second Smaller Verandah

The flexibility of a large footprint comes to the fore here. This steel structure can accommodate not one but two full-length verandahs. The main awning runs its entire length and is 7 metres wide, offering generous covered space for parking vehicles or trailers and for storing gear out of the rain.

The second verandah runs the width of the shed, and while not as large, it definitely serves its own purpose. More usable space equals more functionality, and a second covered verandah will always be used.

Multiple Rollers and a PA Door for Easy Access

With such a big internal area, seamless access is important. The solution we chose for this design was to install multiple roller doors on different walls of the shed, complemented by a Personal Access (PA) door. In total, there are seven roller doors - five facing the full-length verandah, and two on the opposite wall of the shed.

With that many entry points, multiple vehicles can come and go simultaneously without crossing paths. The shed supports efficiency and ease-of-use - the layout and design get it right.

Built with Proven Materials

As with all Stockman sheds, this one is built with materials we trust. Tried, tested and proven to perform. Including:

  • BlueScope steel frame for strength, straightness, and long-term reliability

  • COLORBOND® steel roof and cladding in Monument®

  • Steel-Line Roller Doors

  • Larnec PA Door

  • A strong concrete slab, designed to support the structure

For us, these are the baseline for a strong, durable shed that will keep delivering year after year. We’ve no doubt this large Toowoomba shed will do that,

A Shed That Matches the Land

When designing an acreage shed, scale matters. A small shed on a big block always feels like a compromise. The owner wanted to avoid that with this Cabarlah acreage shed, and needed a massive space to accommodate daily work.

Our designers delivered a large shed that blends with the land and meets the property's needs. Everything sits comfortably in the surroundings - a proper rural shed that looks good and is built to work.
