A Suburban Rangeville Shed

The well-kept homes of one of Toowoomba’s most established suburbs, Rangeville, don’t have the acreage sprawl of other regions on the Darling Downs. They need sheds where very square metre counts - practical additions to the property that are packed with functionality and built to blend in with the serene streetscapes.

For this Rangeville shed in Toowoomba, the owners needed secure parking, storage space and a dedicated private home office. Our shed designers got to work, and this is what they came up with. 

Rangeville Shed Features

Every decision on this garaport build was driven by filling the owner’s brief while utilising the available space. We needed to maximise what was available without overwhelming the property. The shed had to complement the existing Queenslander-style home too. 

Shed Dimensions

When you’re dealing with a suburban space, the shed dimensions take extra thought and strategising. 

This Rangeville shed runs 18.39m long. The enclosed section is 3.5m wide, with enough space inside for an office space and a storage zone. The open carport bay runs off the left side at 3m wide, giving covered parking alongside the enclosed section.

The 18.39m length spreads three functions across the block: parking at one end, office and storage at the other. They’re all connected under a single roofline.

Designed for the Block

Dover White® and Monument® COLORBOND®

The wall cladding is vertical corrugated iron in Dover White® -  a clean, crisp off-white that sits nicely with the existing Queenslander. The roof is Monument® corrugated iron, a deep charcoal that contrasts with the white walls to eye-catching effect. Night Sky® barge capping and gutters tie the colours together. Stockman uses COLORBOND® for all our sheds  - it’s a tough Australian product that won’t fade or warp in our harsh climate.

Open Carport Bays

The open carport section has two bays providing covered parking for two vehicles. Both openings are framed and prepped for roller doors if the owner wants to enclose them down the track. Right now, they function as open covered parking, which suits a suburban block where easy in-and-out access matters.

Steel-Line Roller Door

The enclosed section has a Steel-Line roller door at 2850mm wide x 2200mm high, finished in Night Sky® to match the barges and gutters. It’s the secure, street-facing entry into the enclosed area. Being Steel-Line, it’s built for years of reliable daily use.

Office Space with Glass Sliding Door

The enclosed section is divided internally, with one zone set up as a private office. Access is through a custom glass sliding door with Dover White® trim, which keeps the exterior consistent while bringing light into the office space. It’s a practical setup for anyone who needs a dedicated workspace at home without giving up a room inside the house.

Sliding Window

A Bradnams sliding window at 1731mm wide x 790mm high brings natural light and ventilation into the enclosed section. Positioned on the side wall in Dover White® to match the cladding, it keeps the exterior consistent while making the interior more comfortable to work in day-to-day.

Larnec PA Door

A Larnec PA door at 820mm wide in Dover White® gives foot access into the storage section from the side of the building. Solid, lockable and built to last, Larnec manufacture the best PA doors in the country and every Stockman build gets one fitted as standard.

Heavy-Duty Bracket Construction

The bracket connections on this build are bolted, plated galvanised steel at every junction point. Every bracket is 6mm laser cut and produced from hot-dipped galvanised steel made in Australia. Our sheds use 15–20% more steel than most competitors, and the bracket work is where that extra material translates directly into structural strength.

BlueScope Steel Frame

The frame running through this entire structure is BlueScope steel, which is Australian-made and rated to perform in this climate for decades. It’s the same foundation we put under every Stockman shed, regardless of size or application. There’s no better steel available in Australia and we won’t build with anything less.
