Let’s start with the dimensions - they definitely warrant the first mention. Check them out: .

15.5m wide x 32.2m long x 6m high

That’s a spectacular 499.1m² of enclosed floor space. We love it when a farmer really maximises their available space!

You can fit multiple tractors, trailers and vehicles in here, while still having room to store tools, machinery and equipment. After all that is taken care of, there’s still ample workspace left over. 

With over 32 metres of length to play with, there’s plenty of opportunity to establish multiple usage zones within the building. 

Six Metres of Wall Height

Having a big shed footprint is one thing. Six metres of wall height takes things to another level.

Farm implements can be tall - large equipment like that needs decent clearance. This Groosmville shed can accommodate them and their attachments. 

The extra height also makes the interior feel enormous. Plenty of space to add stacked shelving or even a mezzanine  - this is a future-proof steel structure. 

Five Steel-Line Roller Doors

A massive farm shed needs decent access. This one has five Steel-Line roller doors, including four absolute monsters, and they’re all finished in Colorbond® Monument.

Check out these roller door specifications:

• 4 x 5100mm high x 4370mm wide
• 1 x 3600mm high x 3100mm wide

Those four larger doors are more than five metres high! That tall farm machinery we just mentioned won’t have any trouble coming and going. 

Having multiple roller doors positioned along the length of the shed means the owner can access different areas without having to move everything around inside.

This all makes a lot of sense for a rural property where a lot goes on. These Steel-Line roller doors will stand up to plenty of hard work over the years.

Monument® Walls and Shale Grey® Roof

Choosing the wrong colour on a shed this big can be a tricky one to get over. This owner nailed it though, cladding the walls in vertically installed Monument® Trimdek steel and complementing it with with Shale Grey® Trimdek roofing and matching gutters, barge capping and ridge capping.

It’s a combination that works really nicely on this Colorbond shed. The lighter roof breaks up the darker exterior and gives the building a clean, balanced finish. You get a good looking shed from every angle. When your farm shed is this big, that’s a box you want to tick right. 

10-Degree Gable Roof

A traditional gable roof on a rural shed is a popular choice. This Groomsville build uses a 10-degree roof pitch, for a familiar farm shed profile that adds even more height through the centre of the building.

At 15.5 metres wide, there’s a substantial roof span to cover. The gable design provides effective drainage while keeping the overall appearance neat and proportionate.

Six Sliding Windows

Air and light work together to make a shed interior comfortable. Six sliding windows have been positioned around this steel building to help achieve that. Built tough with Monument® frames and fibreglass flyscreens, they come from our preferred window supplier Bradnams. 

Bradnams give us flexibility in window size and design, which we can then pass onto the customer. 

Two Larnec PA Doors

Five roller doors provide plenty of access for machinery, but you don’t want to open one of those enormous doors every time you need to duck inside.

That’s where the two Larnec PA doors come in.

Both measure 820mm wide and are finished in Monument® to match the surrounding cladding.

They provide convenient foot access on foot, when you’re grabbing a tool, checking on equipment or picking up your keys.

Nearly 17 Tonnes of Steel

This number really puts the size of this farm shed into perspective:

16,643kg

There’s more than 16.6 tonnes of steel in the structure. It’s immense. The entire frame is made from BlueScope Steel, the local Australian steel tried and tested in our harsh climate. We know it goes the distance, which is why we trust it on all our sheds.

When you’re building something with a 15.5-metre span, six-metre-high walls and more than 32 metres of length, the quality of the steel is very important. You want bones that last and can stand up to the rigours of farm work.

A 150mm Thick Concrete Slab

We’ve poured a 150mm thick concrete slab throughout the entire building. It’s high-density 32 MPa concrete too, the type you normally find in bridges and roads. Combined with the supporting foundations, including piers beneath the columns and edge beams, this is a solid base. Heavy tractors and implements can come and go for years on end, and this slab will live to tell the tale.
