What's included in a Stockman garage shed kit?
Every garage kit ships pre-engineered: BlueScope Steel C-section frame cut and pre-drilled, COLORBOND® cladding sheets cut to length, all bracing, fixings and connectors, gutters and downpipes, your choice of roller doors, sliding doors or PA doors, full assembly drawings and engineering certification. Allow around 6 weeks from order to delivery. Slab, council approval and on-site labour are not part of the kit — you arrange those locally.
How much does a DIY garage shed kit cost?
Most Stockman garage kits run $8,000 to $25,000 ex-freight. A single garage at 6m × 4m × 2.7m starts around $8,000–$12,000; a double garage at 6m × 6m × 2.7m sits at $14,000–$20,000; a triple-bay at 9m × 6m runs $20,000–$28,000. Add roller doors, taller walls, wider spans or a skillion roof and the price climbs. Freight to your address is quoted separately.
Can I assemble a garage shed kit myself?
Yes — most garage kits are assemble-able by 2–4 people with basic construction experience. The kit ships with drawings and pre-drilled connections so the work is mostly bolting, not measuring. If you've never done it, hire a local handyman or builder for the heavy lifts (columns, rafters, roof sheeting). Don't try to assemble alone — even a single-garage rafter is a 3-person lift.
Do I still need council approval for a DIY garage shed kit?
Yes — same Class 10a rules apply whether the shed is built by Stockman or assembled from a kit. Approval is required if the structure exceeds 10m² / 2.4m / 5m on any side. With a kit you're responsible for the application yourself; we supply the engineering certification and design drawings the certifier needs.
What's the warranty on a Stockman garage shed kit?
Same materials warranties as a built shed: BlueScope's 30-year warranty on COLORBOND® cladding, Stockman's 20-year structural warranty on the engineered frame. The installation warranty is the difference — kits don't come with one because Stockman isn't doing the install. Engineering certification is conditional on the kit being assembled to the supplied drawings.
