Hodgson Vale is a quiet rural locality where farmland sits next to large acreage blocks. This is agricultural country - fertile soil, dry grass, wide views and big skies. The properties here work hard, and they need farm sheds that reflect that. Functional, well-positioned and matching the serene countryside.
For this brief, the shed was to sit close to the farmhouse, so it needed to visually match that existing structure. The owners wanted to incorporate an enclosed, yet easily accessible, office space with a double carport for secure parking of the family and work vehicles.
Our design team got to work - we love the sleek lines of the skillion roof and bold visual statement of the Night Sky® roof and cladding. This is a stylish shed that’s designed to work hard.

The property aesthetic was at the forefront of our minds when speccing this home with the wonders. Sharp colour, clean lines and practical access throughout - without detracting from the main home in any way.
Shed Dimensions
The full footprint is:
6m wide x 18m long x 2.6m high
At one end of the 18m length we have the enclosed office, and at the other sits the open carport. They’re joined by a continuous skillion roof. We’re fans of the contemporary presence the 2.6m wall height gives the shed. It sits wide and purposeful rather than tall and imposing. If you’re trying to complement an existing structure rather than overwhelm it, this is a good choice to make.
Skillion Roof
The skillion roof is the defining feature of this build. It gives the shed a clean, modern look that reads very differently from a standard gable. It feels sharper and more architectural. The low 5° pitch helps with keeping the height down, allowing the shed to blend into the landscape and not dominate it. Corrugated iron roofing in Night Sky® runs the full length of the roof, matching the wall cladding and trimwork throughout.
Night Sky® Colorbond® Cladding
The walls are clad in Night Sky®, a deep charcoal-black Colorbond® colour. The roof is corrugated iron in the same colour, with barge capping and quad gutters to match. The consistent tones match the main property’s aesthetic, and the durability of Colorbond® steel ensures years of use without fading or corrosion.
Glass Sliding Door
The custom glass sliding door at 2700mm wide x 2100mm high really sets this shed apart. It’s a decent-sized door, and it floods the shed interior with natural light and gives a feel that’s closer to a studio or commercial fitout than a farm building.

Two Custom Windows
Two custom windows at 900mm high x 1800mm wide bring additional light and airflow into the enclosed section. They work with the glass sliding door to keep the interior well-ventilated and bright. They’re also Bradnams windows, custom-sized to suit the brief.
Steel-Line Roller Door
A motorised Steel-Line roller door at 2650mm wide x 2100mm high gives access to vehicles or equipment. It’s finished in Night Sky® to match the cladding, sitting cleanly in the front face without breaking the colour consistency of the build. We only use Steel-Line roller doors here at Stockman. They’re designed for years of consistent use, and won’t let these shed owners down.
Attached Open Carport
The open carport runs off the enclosed office as part of the same 18m structure, covered by the continuous skillion roof. It gives the property covered parking and undercover workspace without requiring a separate build.
Heavy-Duty Bracket Construction
Take a close look at the bracket connections on this build and you’ll see exactly where Stockman Sheds separates itself from the pack. Every bracket is 6mm laser cut and made from hot-dipped galvanised steel, manufactured right here in Australia. On average, our sheds use 15–20% more steel than our competitors, and the brackets are where you see that most clearly.
