3. Color Options: All our garage sheds and garaports are built with COLORBOND® painted steel from Bluescope. You can choose from 21 colours inspired by Australian landscapes, so we’re confident you’ll find the right colour to fit in with your property.

Garaport shed questions, answered

What is a garaport?
A garaport is a covered open-air bay attached to a garage shed — basically a carport extension under the same roofline. The roof is fully clad like a regular shed, but one or more sides are open instead of having a roller door. Used for camping gear, boats, trailers, ride-on mowers, or as an alfresco entertaining area when the roller door's closed in the rain.
What's the difference between a garaport and a carport?
A garaport is integrated INTO a garage shed under one continuous structure — same roofline, same engineering, same warranty. A carport is a standalone structure built independently. The garaport advantage: better visual integration with the main shed, single building approval, single slab, sometimes one shared wall reduces material cost. The trade-off: less flexibility in placement on your block.
How much does a garaport extension cost?
Adding a single-bay garaport (3m × 6m) to an existing shed design typically adds $6,000–$12,000 over the base shed price. A double garaport (6m × 6m, like the double garage with double garaport (2 × 2) layout) adds $12,000–$20,000. Cheaper per square metre than fully enclosed shed space because there's no cladding on the open sides and no door.
Can I close in a garaport later?
Yes — Stockman engineers every garaport so it can be enclosed later by adding cladding and roller doors. The columns, slab and roof are all sized to take the extra load. Worth telling us at design stage if it's likely so we can run the wiring conduits and slab edges to suit. Costs less to plan for it now than to retrofit.
Do garaports need council approval?
Yes — same Class 10a rules apply. The covered floor area counts toward the 10m² / 2.4m / 5m thresholds. As an extension of a garage shed it's usually included in the same building application, so there's no extra paperwork compared to a fully enclosed shed of equivalent size.
