A Custom Workshop Shed in Brassall
Brassall sits on the northern fringe of Ipswich, where the suburban blocks start to get a bit larger than inner-city ones. A workshop shed isn’t just a nice backyard addition here - it’s a genuinely valuable asset.
If you’ve got room to work, store your gear and keep your vehicles and trailers safe, you’ve got the keys to an easily managed work and lifestyle. That’s what this tradie property owner needed, and that’s what Stockman Sheds delivered.
This is a proper custom workshop shed - massive internal height, a mezzanine, internal partitions and solid Bluescope Steel bones. Let’s take a look.
Brassall Shed Features
There were three main goals in mind for this space: storage, room to work, and the ability for flexible use. We designed it accordingly, and the layout and features combine to deliver on those goals.
Garage Gable Design
A popular design choice, this gable roof sits at a 10-degree pitch. It gives the shed a clean, classic profile that looks great in a suburban setting. Gable roofs have excellent drainage and enhance the internal height nicely, which was perfect for what this shed owner wanted. Got ventilation too, which, combined with the whirlybirds we mention lower down on the page, makes for a breezy and cool space.
Generous Dimensions
We build big sheds at Stockmans, whether they are workshops or massive commercial sheds. This is up there with the bigger suburban sheds we build, measuring in at:
9m wide x 14.19m long x 4m high
Those dimensions help satisfy the ‘flexibility’ goal outlined in the initial brief. You can have multiple internal zones each dedicated to their own function, and the internal height opens up the vertical space too.
Mezzanine Level
Measuring 8.3 metres by 2.527 metres with 2.5 metres of height, the mezzanine is a standout feature. It sits above the main floor without eating into the workspace below, adding a full extra level of storage or workspace. If you've got 4 metres of internal height, it makes sense to use it. This owner did exactly that.
Internal Partitions
An internal partition divides the shed into two defined zones. It keeps the workshop area separate from vehicle storage, which makes the whole space easier to manage day to day. Internal partitions are one of those features that sound simple but completely change how you use a shed.
Four Steel-Line Roller Doors
Getting in and out of a busy workshop shed needs to be effortless. Four Steel-Line roller doors in varying sizes make sure it is. There are three at the front, and a fourth on the rear wall of the shed. Each one is positioned and sized to serve a specific purpose, so vehicles and equipment move freely without any reshuffling. Steel-Line is our trusted supplier for good reason - they make quality doors that work hard every single day.
Two Larnec PA Doors
Two Larnec PA doors in Monument® handle everyday foot traffic. No need to touch the roller doors for a quick trip inside. Larnec make the best PA doors in the country and we use them on every build. Straightforward, secure and used far more than people expect.
Sliding Glass Windows
Multiple sliding glass windows bring natural light into the shed, including one with a fibreglass barrier screen. Good light transforms a workshop. These windows keep the interior bright during the day and improve ventilation, which matters when you're spending real time in there.
Four Whirlybirds
Four Wallaby®-toned whirlybirds on the roof keep this shed breathing properly. That matters a lot in an Ipswich summer. Good ventilation keeps the interior cooler, reduces condensation and makes the shed a place you actually want to spend time in.
Colorbond® Cladding and Roof
Colorbond® steel is what we use on every Stockman shed, and for good reason. It's built for the Australian climate and takes everything from scorching summers to storm season without fading, warping or corroding. This shed wears it in Wallaby® for the walls and roof, with Monument® barges and gutters rounding out a clean, residential-friendly colour combo that looks the part from the street.
BlueScope Steel Frame
Bluscope Steel - the ever-reliable, hard-as-nails Australian steel that we use in all our sheds. This one is no exception! The BlueScope steel frame holds everything together - strong, straight and built to last without dramas.
