The sports shed we recently constructed for Highfields FC does exactly that. It’s a typical Stockman shed, built tough to endure the Toowoomba weather for decades to come. BlueScope Steel frame, Colorbond® roof and cladding and a three-metre awning running the entire front length. This one is a winner… let’s see what went into it.

Our shed designers had a working sports club in mind when they put this one together, and every feature has been consciously planned towards that. They include:
Large Shed Dimensions
Here’s the footprint we’re working with:
6m wide x 12.19m long x 3.23m high
Those large shed dimensions give serious storage capacity with the ability for multiple internal usage zones. The height is comfortable and accessible, and there’s space for vertical storage with decent clearance.
Full-Length Front Awning
This is our favourite feature on this sports shed. The three-metre awning runs the full length of the front face, directly facing the playing field. This is where barbeques, team meets and the coaching huddles happen. Built to match the shed construction, the BlueScope Steel frame overhead and the high-density concrete underfoot mean this shed is ready for years of hard use.
Four Steel-Line Roller Doors
Four roller doors spanning the front wall of the shed solve any access issues to the large interior. There are two larger doors at 2650mm wide and 2600mm high to handle bigger equipment, with two slightly lower doors at 2100mm where the high clearance isn’t needed. All four come in Colorbond®’s Monument® tone, a bold choice that offsets the lighter walls nicely.
Three Larnec PA Doors
Complementing the roller doors are three Larnec personal access doors. That’s a high PA door count for a shed this size, and it’s one that makes complete sense in the context of what the shed is used for. Multiple people are going to need to access this shed at different times, especially at a busy weekend sports function. Foot traffic will flow nicely with no bottlenecks. Our PA doors come from Larnec, the best supplier in the country - they match the Stockman quality standards very nicely.
Internal Partition Frames
There are two internal partition frames dividing the shed into separate zones. For a club with varied storage needs, this is a practical necessity that will help immensely in the organisation of gear. It’ll make day-to-day management of the shed and everything in it much easier.
Surfmist® and Dune® Colour Combination
The wall cladding is vertical Trimdek in Surfmist®, a clean off-white that gives the shed a light, open appearance on the grounds. The roof is Trimdek in Dune®, a warm sandy tone that contrasts gently with the walls. Monument® barges and gutters provide a defined edge around the roofline and match the roller doors.
The colour combination looks fresh and well-maintained. This matters for a community facility that represents the club every time someone sets foot on the grounds.
Colorbond® is built for Australian conditions and will keep looking this good without fading or corroding through years of outdoor exposure. We don’t settle for any less on a Stockman shed.
