When we started chatting with our customer in Harristown, we learned they wanted a decent-sized shed that delivered on functionality. That meant multiple ways in and out, internal partitioning, and enough height for some proper vertical storage.

8m wide x 9.19m long x 3.6m high
That’s a very useful amount of enclosed space for a commercial property that has to maximise what’s available. The shed doesn’t dominate the site, but it does exactly what the business owner needs.
3.6m height provides decent clearance inside, giving vertical storage options and allowing taller machinery to come and go.
Two Separate Internal Sections
This is a smart way of maximising available space inside your commercial shed - use internal partitions to create multiple rooms. In this case, an internal wall divides it into two separate sections.
This adds to the versatility of the steel structure - different parts of the business operation can be kept separated. Vehicles on one side, equipment on the other. Or a workshop on one side, and tool storage on the other. The clear separation between the two areas opens up your options.
Three Steel-Line Roller Doors
Three roller doors are a huge feature. More access points equals more functionality on a shed, so when you have three Steel-Line roller doors, the space just becomes easier to use.
On the front of the shed, two roller doors open into the two distinct internal zones. A third roller door sits at the opposite end of one section, giving that room drive-through access.
All three doors are finished in Colorbond® Night Sky® cladding, which sits nicely against the darker Monument® cladding and keeps the exterior looking sharp.

Colorbond® Monument® All Over
Colorbond Monument® is a solid choice for a commercial shed, and this one uses it for all the roof and cladding. Night Sky® has then been used for the barge capping, gutters and roller doors. The two darker tones complement each other nicely and work well with the shape of the building. The vertical corrugated cladding adds some texture without making the exterior too busy. It’s an understated look and feel that works well with this Harristown business site.
5-Degree Skillion Roof
The shed owner went with a 5-degree skillion roof. We’re getting more and more requests for skillions, and there are a few reasons they’re becoming popular. For a start, it gives the building a contemporary profile that suits the footprint nicely. Looking at it from ground level, the subtle angle of the roof means the cladding does most of the visual lifting. When you’ve chosen your Colorbond tone well, the design really works.

Two Larnec PA Doors
Team members popping in and out of a commercial shed don’t want to be opening a roller door every single time. This is where Personal Access, or PA doors, come into their own. If you’re ducking into the shed to get a tool or fetch your keys, access is easy through a PA door.
This shed has two, one leading into the shed and one connecting the two internal sections. Both are 920mm and come from Larnec, the leading manufacturer of secure and sturdy doors in the country. They’re part of the details that make this shed easier to use every day.
Over 3 Tonnes of Steel
The steel components sussed to build this shed tip the scales at 3,336kg, with the substantial steel frame clearly visible once you step inside.
That frame gives the building the strength behind its 8m span, 3.6m height and three large roller-door openings. As with all our sheds, we only used BlueScope Steel in this build. It’s the local Australian product tried, tested and proven in our weather conditions.
A Concrete Slab Built for Commercial Use
A strong steel building starts with the foundation, and this concrete slab definitely deserves a mention. At Stockman Sheds, we use high-density 32 MPa concrete for our shed slabs. That’s the same concrete used in bridges and roads. It creates a hard-wearing surface that can handle the busy day-to-day activities of a commercial shed. This is a concrete slab that will go the distance.
