Silver Ridge Shed Going Up

There are some cracking spots in and around Toowoomba, with Silver Ridge being up there with my favourites. Lush bushlands and stellar views make for a pretty cool work environment, so we were stoked to get a rural shed build booked in one of Silver Ridge’s more scenic spots. What a shed this is going to be - a shed with a view, for sure! We took some pics of the boys laying the shed’s concrete slab, and from the size of the slab you can see this is going to be one big shed. We’ll get into the pics down below, but I just want to touch on the importance of getting the slab right if you want the shed to have a long and sturdy life! We get asked this question a lot:

Do You Need a Concrete Slab for a Shed?

Yup, you sure do. Particularly when you build sheds the size that Stockman does. The slab forms the foundation that will support the steel structure built above it. It keeps the shed from sifting, settling or sinking over time, stopping it from collapsing. What’s more, the slab provides a solid base for the equipment or machinery you’ll store in the shed. If you want a shed that’s as tough as the Aussie countryside, you’re going to need a properly laid slab.

Can I Lay My Shed Concrete Slab Myself?

In theory, you can do anything you want in life. Some things aren’t advisable though, and unless you’re qualified to do so I’d recommend you get a professional to lay your slab. As you can see from the pics below, this is a big job. We know when to lay the concrete, and we know how to determine how thick it should be according to the size and function of the shed. The Stockman team knows how to anchor the shed to the concrete, and we know how to waterproof and pest-proof it. A lot of knowledge and experience goes into this, and it’s a job you want to get right the first time.
